Does Ageism Exist in the Job Market?
Yes, but it definitely does not exist here at the Seniors Job Bank. What excites me is the opportunity to represent mature, reliable people with valuable skills. This results in our high-quality, conscientious workers fulfilling various necessary jobs for homeowners, businesses, and municipalities.
I learned about the Seniors Job Bank when I was looking for meaningful part-time work. I am a senior, and I love working with seniors of any age – including our job seekers and employers. However, you do not need to be a senior to request a worker from our database. This allows us to share our talented workers with any homeowner or organization.
I love the mission of the Seniors Job Bank – not only do we help people over 50 with part-time and temporary work in the Greater Hartford area, but we also see good deeds done every day. Currently, we have over 580 workers in our database. It’s magical matching job seekers with homeowners and organizations who need help. It is so rewarding helping folks get a job when they need it and helping employers find the right person.
I have a deep background in corporate human resources and non-profit business management. As an entrepreneur for over 20 years, I can relate to all types of clients and businesses. I also spent many years as an out-of-state caretaker for my elder parents. I am exceptionally compassionate when we get the phone calls from out-of-state adult children to find support for their elders aging at home in CT.
In 2023, our primary task is to raise money through grants, gifts, and donations from our constituents to expand our reach in communities across Greater Hartford, including Avon, Bloomfield, Canton, East Hartford, Farmington, Hartford, Newington, Simsbury, West Hartford, Wethersfield, and Windsor. Traditionally, about 50% of our job placement activity has been in West Hartford. We want to increase our presence in all of the surrounding communities.
We aim to connect as many people as possible and continue offering this free connection resource. We are focused on community partnerships with local Senior Centers, Chambers of Commerce, Rotary Clubs, and local libraries to get the word out about our services.
Finding quality employees and workers in today’s world can be a challenge. The Seniors Job Bank exists to provide access to people who care about doing a good job and want to make a difference in the greater Hartford area. We invite you to make a difference by supporting the Seniors Job Bank’s vital mission with a donation of any size. Please click here to donate.
